We are excited about the upcoming 2006-2007 academic year in Campus Dining! Sodexho Food Service provides dining service for the members of the Defiance College community. All students living in campus residence halls are required to participate in the meal plan. Residential students may select from four plans with meal equivalency and flex dollars that can be used for guest meals.

The College provides four meal plan options:

  • 19 meals per week
    Includes meal equivalency and flex dollars
  • 14 meals per week
    Includes meal equivalency and flex dollars
  • 10 meals per week
    Includes meal equivalency and flex dollars
  • 75-block meal program

Eligibility for meal plans is based upon class standing. Residential freshmen are required to be on the 19-meal plan. All Residential student-athletes are required to be on either the 19 or 14 meal plan while they are in season. Senior students living in the apartments may select the 75-block meal plan. Senior student athletes living in the apartments are required to be on a minimum of a 10-meal plan while they are in season.

Commuters may purchase a full meal plan or block meals at a discounted price to meet their specific and unique needs. Persons interested in acquiring guest passes or single meal tickets may contact the food service office. Individual meals for guests may be purchased from the Sodexho dining hall attendant, the Sodexho office, and also at the Hive.

Having trouble selecting a meal plan?
Try considering your daily routine… Do you eat three meals a day? Will your class schedule, studying, extracurricular activities and social events interfere with dining? Will you miss dinner due to employment or evening classes? Anticipating the answers to these and similar questions will help you to select a meal plan that best fits your lifestyle.

Important Info

Sick Trays
If a student requires a sick tray due to illness, they can make arrangements by contacting the Dining Service Office at X 2488.

Exemptions
A student may apply for food service exemption for medical reasons. A request for exemption must be submitted in writing to the Office of Student Life. Additionally, the student will be required to provide signed documentation from his/her physician stating the specific condition and dietary requirements. The chief student affairs officer or his/her designee, the Coordinator of Health Services and/or the Director of Food Services will review all submitted documentation. A final decision will be made by the Chief student affairs officer or his/her designee and will be provided in writing to the student.

Refunds
There are no monetary rebates, reimbursements, or allowances for meals or days which dining service contract patrons miss. If prior arrangements are made with the Food Service, sack lunches may be substituted for missed meals.

Food Board
The Food Board is comprised of the Student Senate Class Vice Presidents, the Director of Food Service, a staff member from the Office of Student Life and any interested members of the College community. The purpose of the board is to discuss suggestions and ideas concerning the operations, menu and quality of service. The Food Board meets twice a month. Policies and Procedures
Students are required to present their DC identification card to a Sodexho dining attendant at each meal. Meal plans and ID’s are not transferable therefore each student is required to use his or her own ID. Students are permitted unlimited seconds on all items in the main dining hall except theme nights. All foods served in the cafeteria are to be consumed in the dining room. These policies will be in effect for the entire school year.

Ohio law requires the following minimum dress requirements in a cafeteria environment: sleeved shirt or blouse, Bermuda shorts, and shoes or sandals.
